I <3 Music!

I am continually amazed by my own ability to hear a song, just once and fall in love. In love enough to play it over and over and over again. When I love a song, I reallllly love a song. Sometimes to the point of driving Joanne away form listening to her most favorite CD in the world. Hello, Indigo Girls. I totally over played one of their CDs and Joanne ended up not listening to it for months. She just couldn’t stand to hear the songs I loved anymore. When we moved here, I feel back in love with the new P!nk CD. And this was worse, not just a song or two. Not three or four. But every song on the CD, play them all. I know them by heart and I LOVE each of them. Joanne, she’d rather not listen to Pink for awhile now. Not unless I put in one of the older CDs.

Rarely do I have the opportunity to listen to music in my house. I’m always in the car blasting my favorite tunes. But, I wake up so early in the morning that I get the chance to listen to something. Currently, I only listen to my favorite morning show from MIX 94.1 because it takes me back home to Vegas.

While listening to MIX 94.1 several mornings ago the most requested song was Hey There Delilah from the Plain White T’s. The first time I heard this song I fell in love. Right when it ended I had to hear it again. I jumped over to MySpace added it as my song on my profile and have been listening to it now whenever I wanted to.

This morning, I turn it on and started begging the toddlers in the house to get up and dance! They don’t care, they’ll hear anything and dance and they happily complied with my request. Joanne walked into my little office area here and said “have you seen the video for this song?” I hadn’t because I’m not a huge music video watcher, just not my thing when I have control of the TV. When my song finished I went to my favorite lyrics website to ensure that I was singing the song correctly (I am) and then to YouTube to watch the video. You know, YouTube has everything. :: laugh ::

So, now I present to you . . . Plain White T’s singing Hey There Delilah. Go ahead, have a listen and read the lyrics. Let me know if you fall in love as much as I have!

Lyrics:

Hey there Delilah
What’s it like in New York City
I’m a thousand miles away
But girl tonight you look so pretty
Yes you do
Time Square cant shine as bright as you
I swear it’s true

Hey there Delilah
Don’t you worry about the distance
I’m right there if you get lonely
Give this song another listen
Close your eyes
Listen to my voice it’s my disguise
I’m by your side

Oh it’s what you do to me
Oh it’s what you do to me
Oh it’s what you do to me
Oh it’s what you do to me
What you do to me

Hey there Delilah
I know times are getting hard
But just believe me girl
Someday I’ll pay the bills with this guitar
We’ll have it good
We’ll have the life we knew we would
My word is good

Hey there Delilah
I’ve got so much left to say
If every simple song I wrote to you
Would take your breath away
I’d write it all
Even more in love with me you’d fall
We’d have it all

Oh it’s what you do to me
Oh it’s what you do to me
Oh it’s what you do to me
Oh it’s what you do to me

A thousand miles seems pretty far
But they’ve got planes and trains and cars
I’d walk to you if I had no other way
Our friends would all make fun of us
But we’ll just laugh along because we know
That none of them have felt this way
Delilah I can promise you
That by the time that we get through
The world will never ever be the same
And you’re to blame

Hey there Delilah
You be good and don’t you miss me
Two more years and you’ll be done with school
And I’ll be making history like I do
You’ll know it’s all because of you
We can do whatever we want to
Hey there Delilah here’s to you
This one’s for you

Oh it’s what you do to me
Oh it’s what you do to me
Oh it’s what you do to me
Oh it’s what you do to me
What you do to me

wooooohwooooooooh woooooooooh

For now, I too am totally in LOVE with this song!!! As burned out as I get with some of the repetitiveness I am glad that they are songs I really do enjoy listening too. I think we will only have a problem if you get obsessed with hard core gangsta rap.

That’s a nice song. =0) I’ve been a bit obsessed with Keith Urban lately, I’m not usually too into country but seem to enjoy his one song “You’ll Remember Me”.. somehow this song seems to inflict this place in my heart. =0)
