Where have you been?
I know it’s unlike me to not blog for so many days in a row. . . So, here’s the update on me.
First, thanks to everyone who commented on Buy Blog Posts. I suppose I hit the hot topic there. And by the way, I’ve decided that I’m OK with this concept after reading a post written by Jack Spirko at ComTech News. You may read that post by clicking here.
So, Friday was my last day babysitting my niece, Malia. On one hand, I’m disappointed about it because I don’t have my time with her every single day. On the other, I’m going to throw a party because I can finally just be her Aunt. Instead of feelings of – go away kid, I’ve spent the last 50 hours with you this week and I don’t want to see you on the weekend. The change will be very nice and very welcome.
:: Dancing ::
Next up, I received a custom theme order for WordPress. Actually to be more specific, it’s 9 custom themes for WordPress. Needless to say – this is going to keep me busy but I love it. Creating themes for WordPress really keeps my creativity going and expands the boundaries of what I create and draw. I love that. Reminds me, I still really want to buy myself a Wacom tablet!
Last and biggest, I have pulled out of my partnership with Mindy. Don’t worry World War III didn’t happen – actually, not at all. She’s been very graceful about my choice to let go.
So you may be wondering, why did I do this?
The answer is fairly simple and 3 fold:
Time: I want more time with Joanne and Zadey. I want to feel like I can get up and walk away and not have any guilt about what work I’m leaving behind at the computer. Now that we’re no longer babysitting Malia, I also want the freedom that Joanne’s been dying to have again and that’s to just get up and go out of town. Leave, no worries, just go! Again, I could do that but not without the guilt of throwing everything on Mindy while I’m gone for God knows how long.
Interests: The Work at Home Mom community is awesome. But my interests are slowing moving more and more towards blogging, writing, and designing. I never want to be at a point where I’m no longer interested in the work that I’m doing – especially when I feel as though the work I’m doing is to HELP, not hinder. And if I’m not interested in the work, I’m hindering.
Money: It sounds petty but life has very much changed for Joanne and I since moving to California and it’s going to be this way until we go back to Vegas. If I spend several hours busting my butt for someone to buy something I’ve created, I want every dime of that profit. In a partnership, that’s not exactly fair. And Mindy and I both bust butt on everything we do only to split the profit with someone else. It’s my belief that this reasoning is a positive for both Mindy and I – she’ll no longer have to split with me and I’ll no longer have to split with her on my endeavors.
If you’re a customer of one of our many sites – don’t freak.
Mindy has taken over on everything we have but the hosting site. She’s got it covered and knows if she’s got issues, I’m here. :D
Hosting has become mine which is a little awkward because it’s been 2 years since I had the hosting business to myself. But I’ll be the same as it ever was.
So, what’s next for me?
Well, designing is going to be my main focus. I purchased a domain name just for my site and WordPress designs and eventually, that’ll open up. But not until I have the stock there that I want. Additionally, I really want to use a new open-source shopping cart there that will be coming out some time this summer. I’m waiting! LMAO Better than investing $100+ on a shopping cart that is just the same as the free one will be.
So, there’s news you can use.
Back to my 9 WordPress themes.

Katy,
Thanks for mentioning my article. Yep it was a hot topic last week anyway. I am betting that we won’t hear much about it again for a while though, such is the nature of the blogosphere,

Sometimes, all good things come to an end and it sounds like you have made a good choice for yourself, your family, and that Mindy is willing to understand that. That’s great! I’ve seen so many site and partners go haywire when spliting. Good for you though Katy.. on doing something FOR YOU. 9 customs!!! That’s WONDERFUL. I can’t wait to see your new site! I just love your work and creative arts!! Keep it up chic! *hugs*

Thanks for the support — I’m sure you all will be the first to know when the site opens (as you have themes I’d love for you to alter the footer credit links on). *Huggers*
