Oh Wow, Tao
Wow, Tao – that’s all I can say.
We arrived late. You know getting out of PostieCon at 4 PM and needing to be at Tao just 2 hours later when you have a 2 year old doesn’t exactly work. But we got there at 7 PM just after dropping Zadey off with her Uncle.
WOW!
First, I have to give huge props to IZEA for the open bar for 3 hours. Holy cow, I’m so glad that bill wasn’t mine! It’s been years since I’ve had a Madori sour so thanks for that, like all 8 of them. Seriously, buzzed may have been an understatement of how I was feeling after all those terribly strong and wonderfully delicious drinks.
And let me just tell you, the $100 I spent on my outfit was so worth it ‘cause I looked hot. And with Joanne right next to me looking so good, we’re such a cute couple – if I do say so myself.
So, generally speaking I roamed Tao. I spent a lot of time talking with Daniel and Scott from IZEA about the brand new SocialSpark (and giving them mad praise because I’m so excited about this). I got to hear all the dirty details from their side and share my excitement about this whole thing that is going to change advertising as we know it!
I left with a huge stack of business cards in my pocket and came home with very few. More times than I can count I had the following conversation:
“You look so familiar to me!â€
“I do?â€
“How do I know you?â€
“Um, I’m not sure.â€
“Are you on the PPP boards?â€
“Nope, for some reason I can’t get registered so I read everything as a guest.â€
“Where do you blog?â€
“I’m Blogging That!â€
“OH MY GOD! I TOTALLY READ YOUR BLOG!â€
Flattered is hardly the word for how I was feeling. And Joanne “that’s so cool babe!â€
I spent some time talking with a totally drunk Colleen and Julie. Although I promised Colleen I wouldn’t blog about her crazy drunk behavior but let’s just say she’s a damn riot. For Colleen, “what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.†…laugh… (I really do hate this city’s tagline).
Ashley with IZEA took a picture of my boob. OK, not really my boob but kind of because he totally took a picture of my tattoo of Zadey’s handprint.
This weekend Tao is also celebrating their 2 year anniversary so the place was going to be swarmed with celebrities. I however, had that need after awhile to just go and pick up my baby and go home so we didn’t actually stay around to see any of them.
As we left Tao, I called my sister just as I promised. Joanne called it “drunk dialing.†I totally left her the drunkest message that I think went something along these lines:
“Hey, I told you I was going to call you this late. Tao was so awesome and they had an open bar FOR 3 HOURS! I’m really drunk but I still look hot and I had a great time. My feet totally hurt and we’re going to go home now and pick up Zadey. Call me in the morning but not too early ‘cause I’m up late and have had a lot to drink. Love you, bye!â€
This morning she timed her phone call perfectly as I had only been up maybe 2 minutes by the time my cell phone started ringing. She was sure to ask “so if I had been there, would I be going instead of?†My answer was “No, you’d be going in addition to and Steve would have all 3 of our kids.â€
It was a great time and today, coffee never tasted so good and I feel energized and excited!

Love the blog…its good to read another lesbian mom.
Sounds like you had a lot of fun, XD.
Drunk dialing is fine, if it’s family. Drunk blogging? Now that would have been even funnier, though :)
Paula: Thank you, you may also be interested in checking out my “mommy blog” at Raise It, Clean It, Blog It
Sarah: I probably would have ended up drunk blogging if I hadn’t of been so tired when I got home. Joanne and I had a late late dinner, finished up and went to bed. Seriously, I think I was out in like 2 minutes flat. HA!
That’s how I always am, XD, when I’ve had any kind of alcohol. *head* *pillow* *lights out*, XD
LOL That’s what happened to me after getting up at 6 AM after only 5 hours of sleep, spending the entire day at a conference and then spending the night at the bar. Yeah, I’m surprised I held up as well as I did!
That was definitely one wild night! It was nice meeting you too! I woke up with your business card in my bag, and said, “Oh yeah! I met Katy.” LOL!
Good times!
What happens in Vegas…shall be blogged about?
:-)
Heh, I’ve partied with Colleen…she is a riot! Glad you had a good time, wished I could’ve gone.
Jules: Glad I had those business cards so you could remember me. LOL They almost didn’t make it in time.
Colleen: I’ll let you blog about it. But you did have nice red panties on, thanks for the show. ROFL
LaDonna: Sorry I didn’t get a chance to meet you! Maybe next year?
Hey it was great meeting you at Tao, that place was awesome! I was out on the balcony talking with you and everyone else, and the next thing I knew it was 4AM and my flight left at 6AM! Needless to say I missed my flight :( It was worth it though, Izea threw one hell of a party :)
Hey Chris! It was great meeting and chatting with you too.
I can’t believe how late you stayed, wow, I so couldn’t have done it and still been Mom. Sorry you missed your flight but I think I would have risked it anyway just to have that night. You’re right, Izea threw one hell of a party and I’d gladly do it again in a heartbeat!
I’ve already picked up the feed to your blog, I’ll try to show my face a bit with some comments. *Ü*
What time did you two end up staying until? I actually ended up catching the next flight out, so it wasn’t too bad. Plus I got a free upgrade to first class :) Can’t complain about that.
Chris » Not late at all. We left at 10:30 to pick up our baby. We came, we socialized, we went home. It was long enough. I wish we could have stayed longer but I have separation issues with my baby. LOL
We’re talking about having another date night and going back out there. While it won’t be the same kind of party, it was nice for us to know it’s a great place to hang out when we feel like going out.
Yeah Katy Tao is a cool place, but *way* expensive for my budget :) Bottles of Bud Light there were $8 each, and mixed drinks were ridiculous. Then cover, etc. Us “hicks” out here in the Midwest aren’t used to that :)
OMG! Yeah, that’s a bit expensive and a trip out there should certainly be considered a “treat” but that’s what happens when they are in a big name hotel with big name visitors. They can afford to keep their business afloat with or without the high priced drinks.
Luckily for us, we left shortly after last call for Izea and only drank on Ted. Gotta love that!
