Defining Arrogant

When I looked in the dictionary for the word arrogant I was just sure that I was going to find a picture of Michael Arrington. But since I didn’t, I’m including one.

ar•ro•gant [ar-uh-guhnt] –adjective
1. making claims or pretensions to superior importance or rights; overbearingly assuming; insolently proud: an arrogant public official.
2. characterized by or proceeding from arrogance: arrogant claims.

Just when you thought that Michael and TechCrunch couldn’t be any lower than pond scum, he makes a post calling a PayPerPost blogger pathetic for wondering how’s she’s going to feed her family with no PayPerPost opportunities to take and no PageRank.

While every person has their own opinion of the moral principals behind PayPerPost, it’s one thing to target the company and another to target a Mother of 5 children who blogs AND makes extra money for her family.

I mean really, do all these bloggers really think that they are that much better? Go ahead, look through TechCrunch and I dare you to tell me that those links plastered all over that site aren’t sponsored. What’s so different for them? They get hundreds of thousand dollars instead of a just a few, that’s the difference. This doesn’t make them better and the value of the links still puts them in the same playing field of those who make just a few.

Forget boycotting Google, maybe it’s time TechCrunch readers reevaluate who they’re getting their information from. Michael Arrington has less moral standing than the companies he continually bashes.

I love how the idiot claims it’s all about “disclosure, disclosure, disclosure”. Bull!

PPP requires some sort of disclosure now, if I’m not mistaken. Only THREE of my PPP since August of last year (or was it November? Anyway), have not been labeled as paid posts, and that was at the request of the one paying for the post.

Yeah, my current gifts ones are considered “paid posts” but I only get some sort of payment if someone buys using those exact links. That’s doubtful, and I’m really only doing it for idea for everyone else (helped someone today, LOL).

Arrington is a stuck-up snotty bastard who’s in it for the fame and the money, not for the readers (as proven by the fact that he didn’t back up any of his crap with actual proof.

Yes, disclosure has always been the thing with him. But it didn’t help either when people did start disclosing. I’m not sure what is issue is anymore but not only is he pissing off bloggers, he’s pissing off his own readers.

He’s also connecting IZEA’s RealRank with PPP and they’re becoming two different things. He needs to get some more facts straight.

Must really be a slow news day for the man to snoop around the PPP forum and create a post from someone really upset.

What’s admirable? Ted Murphy making a personal comment on the post (and many others trashing his company).

I loved reading Ted’s response. It was concise, well-written, and gave accurate information (as I’ve seen the proof myself). He never once attempted to bad-mouth Arrington, or his entry. That was classy and admirable :)

Arrington was the one who “forgot” about his session at Blog World Expo. He’s a loser. Why does anyone even listen to him. Outside of blogging he’s nothing. His blog is popular and he has power online. Offline he’s a joke. Online too.

Drew » Very convenient to forget a session at BlogWorld huh? I don’t trust him, to be honest. And from other bloggers who have met him, I understand that he’s the same jerk offline as he is online. I’m not sure how it continues to have a readership unless all these people just stick around to yell at him. Very few these days give him supportive comments.

What a loser! That really irks me because I do PPP in hopes of earning enough each month to cover my husband’s child support so that the child support I receive actually counts for something. We have 7 kids all together and any extra money helps. I’ve been stressin’ it too since my page rank dropped. I guess that makes me “pathetic” also. :P Ugh.

Thanks again for your help. It took me 3 hours to add that tag in my links, but I got it done. I wouldn’t have known how to do it if you hadn’t helped.

Tori » Sometimes it’s the nature of the beast when it comes to competitive blogging with the A-List bloggers. They’re always looking to beat each other down and talk their smack. Michael Arrington is certainly one of these people.

Truth of the matter is, you’re not pathetic and neither is the woman he blogged about. He’s got a clear issue with PayPerPost that he’s made public on several occasions. Now he’ll just do anything he can to find something and use it against the company. This was low though, it wasn’t the company he trashed, it was another blogger.

Applause to you Katy and your post. Nobody wants to rely on money earned online through paid postings, but some have to. Who is he to smack someone elses choice.

Lynne » I agree. Problem is he thinks that he’s in a different class and because he earns more for his links, he’s better. Really, what he does is no different. The bottom line, he’s just mad because everyone can use PPP and get the cash… it takes money away from him.
