List of Sites to Ping

A comment today on my blog post from August of last year, Blogs + Pings reminded me that I was going to make an additional post regarding pining after reading Blog Oh! Blog’s eBook on SEO for WordPress users.

Clearly, in my vast plan of other blog posts I had forgotten to make the post so here it is now.

For sometime I had been looking for a list of sites that should receive a ping when I make a post. A way to promote my blog and get the word out that a new post had been written. Pinging is obviously a good way to do this but my search for a list of sites to ping often turned up nothing.

And the only thing I walked away with after reading the eBook mentioned above was indeed a list of sites to ping.

Below are ping URL’s for multiple websites that will increase your site’s visibility and perhaps generate more traffic for you.

In addition, if you use this list it might be best to grab yourself the No Ping Wait plugin that will enable you to get your posts live on your site without waiting for all sites in this list to receive a ping. It’s worked well for me.

Holy crap on a stick! That’s a list!
Definitely doing this. Not really for the readers, but for the thought of getting some random posts of mine popping up somewhere that isn’t from scrapers making money on my posts.

Hee hee, now there’s a post idea for you. Simple solutions for protecting your work from illegal scraping of content.
