Google Updates Toolbar PageRank

Last night, when my family and I got home from shopping I sat down to check my stats and catch up on eMail. Upon refreshing I’m Blogging That, I nearly fell out of my chair.

For months I have been actively working on improving my PageRank, Technorati Authority, and Alexa rank. And I’ve been successful, everywhere but with PageRank. And it’s not that I wasn’t sure what I was doing wrong but that I was waiting for Google to update!

And now, it seems that they have.

Last night, after my refresh I saw that I’m Blogging That was a PageRank 4. Up from my 3. Closing my browser out and going back to my site, I was back to a 3. Convinced that there was no accident I’ve been watching, carefully.

Today, another 4. I close my browser, restart, and it’s still a 4. I reboot my computer, still a 4. And now I’m sure, there’s been a PageRank update.

But just to make sure I started checking around other sites and pages on I’m Blogging That.

Kiss My Code: Previously a 3 now showing 4.
Your Solo Ad Provider: Previously a 2 on all pages, now a 3 on all pages.

Around I’m Blogging That:

Race for Rank, which was started in January, has a dedicated page on the site. Obviously it had no previous rank because it’s new, today it shows a 3.

Posts from Race for Rank are ranking very well!

Better Site Rank has a 2
Better Alexa Rank In 5 Days has a 2
Gain Authority with Top Commentator has a 3
How to Use All In One SEO Pack has a 4
Don’t Worry About Your Alexa Rank has a 4

On the other side, my about page used to have a 2 and now it has nothing.

At this point, I’m unsure of how complete the update is but I know that they’re working on it. It’s obvious to me and I’ve checked out some friend’s sites and know that some of them who had nothing for PageRank are now ranked.

In case your toolbar isn’t showing it, here’s my proof that I’m seeing it:

PageRank

So, go check out your site. Are you seeing anything different?

Tomorrow, with a new post, we’ll discuss everything that I’ve done and wrap up the Race for Rank series. If you might recall, Race for Rank was set to end this month and now that Google has updated in time, it will.

This website uses IntenseDebate comments, but they are not currently loaded because either your browser doesn't support JavaScript, or they didn't load fast enough.

Falling out of the chair is right! I got up this morning and Tip Tail, my dog blog, was a 2… Luna Tail also a 2, and it’s been at a 0 for months! I checked my other blogs and sure enough, they are mostly 2s, one is a 3. Wow!

So I wonder if Google changed their minds about paid posts or what? Man… we just never know their secrets, do we.

I am seeing that once again Google has decided that my blog is not getting any pr which is beginning to put me off now and i am seriously considering giving up.

I’m not seeing updates yet, so it hasn’t hit my toolbar, but awesome on the updates. :)
I’ve also heard those hit the PR-Smack for using PPP are also getting their rank back, as well. Bodes well for posting for money in that aspect :)

My blog has been switching between a PR3 and a PR4 for the last few days. I wonder when it will be consistent.

Karen » Thank you, indeed it is!

Lisa » Quite welcome, congratulations on your rank.

Cynthia » Congratulations! I’m seeing lots of changes for those that have sponsored posts. I don’t think they’re changing their mind as they are changing their system now that the hype is dying down.

David » Don’t let PageRank encourage you to give up. Many people have a successful blog without PageRank. It’s not so much the rank you need but the indexing. With a 5 month old blog, there’s lots of simple things you can do to get some rank… 5 months is too soon to give up! You’re obviously having success somewhere with your feed count. :D

Sarah » Both TM2TS and RA have rank. :D

Mike » Sounds like exactly what I’m Blogging That did for about 24 hours before sticking with the 4. Good luck!!

That is awesome. The Bensaprk stayed where it was at 3 but my newest blog Read to Me, Dad is at 4, no clue why.

RA has always had rank, xD. It’s always been a 1, but woo hoo!! All my sites did see an increase, and TM2TS is back at 3, which is what it was BEFORE the smackdown!!
Google learned something, I’m assuming, which raises my faith in them a little more ;)

Drew » Happy to hear you’ve kept rank on BenSpark, I wasn’t sure how you were hit with that. And congratulations on the new rank at Read to Me, Dad.

Sarah » I think it really helped that you moved TM2TS to a sub-domain instead of a sub-folder. Either way, nice to see you have rank there again. :D

Thanks, Katy :) I think it was the best for me. I plan on eventually buying a domain name for it, so this was that first big step for it. I was looking frantically yesterday and thinking I’d gotten the stiff again, but nope, ALL of my sites saw an increase.

That’s great that your hard work is paying off with an increase in PR. Well done :)

    Congrats!

I expierienced the same as you: A sudden peak in the PR. Mine jumped from mostly 2 to mostly 4.
(BTW; rebooting back and forth. Isn’t that a unlogical approach? )

I’m new to this yet so I know I don’t have a page rank. I have already started using PPP though and am wondering if I will ever get a page rank so I can get some of those well paid opportunities with PPP . Since most require a google page rank I don’t qualify and since I’m already using PPP don’t know if I ever will…seems like a catch 22.
