What’s Your Goal?

BLOGGING YOUR PANTS OFF

I tend to fly by the seat of my pants, I
always have my hands in multiple cookie jars,
(Thanks, Neil) and come up with ideas for
topics on the spot or maybe a few days in
advance at most. I would be willing to bet
that you are probably like me - I don't know
many bloggers who plan their blogging to the
finest detail well in advance, though I'm
sure some do. But I sure don't.

HAVE A GOAL

By having a clear purpose and/or goals for your blog or just blogging in
general it will be much easier to achieve success when you have a clear "Goal"
you want to achieve.

It's the old adage, "Those who fail to Plan, plan to Fail"

It sounds pretty simple, but how many of us blogging are just blogging with NO
real goals? I was for a couple of years, sure you can always fall back on the
excuse of, "I'm just blogging for fun", which i call bullshit. Even if you are
just blogging about how much you love cats, you still want others to check out
your blog and to become involved with you, comment on the photo of your fat cat.

SIMPLY PUT

Blogging for Blogging sake will die! You can't keep blogging about the same
thing for very long before you become tired, and mark my words you will lose
interest, and will those who like what you have to say. Take a look at all the
DEAD blogs out there. Believe me there are MILLIONS of dead blogs. Without a
"Goal" your blog will fail too.

I’m Blogging That What are you Blogging?

The difference between those that are successful, at anything are those with a
plan, goals, an exit strategy, something that drives them, I'm Blogging That...
What are you blogging?

I’m blogging on money and SEO. Also, my blog is about blogging and never die for 9 months+. I hope my blog can run longer.

Aside from the financial reward, of course the need to unwind some mind-boggling thoughts. Blogging is very rewarding for the dedicated ones.

If you visit my blog you will see that a lot of work goes into each of my posts. I have to perforce plan in advance and prepare properly before I can post. I pick up new ideas for posts while i am doing such preparation and new work starts simultaneously on those too. So, I can pretty much fall into the category that plans in advance.

Yes I agree that we need to set the goals while doing blogging. Then only we can do more effectively and efficiently and can give quality work.

The only goal I have for my blog right now is to keep finding material to write about. If I can achieve that then I’m happy. Ok that and making $1000 a month.

It’s my passion and i find that whenever i post it comes out naturally.

I also agree on setting goals.

I would like a blog that generated a lot of traffic. Not so much for the monetary gain but just more for the fact that I write something thats interesting enough for a lot of people to read.

I’d like to provide more updates to my site via the blog, which I just redid, and spark some conversation. A blog is a good reason to get people to come back.

I find myself not being able to answer that. I’ve been avoiding specializing on anything becasue I’m afraid I’d get bored of it and have to start another blog for my new interests, and in a matter of time I’d have several blogs that most have been abandoned.

I blog about anything, from web design and developement, to paranormal events, to entertainment and so forth.

Your posts are so informative and to the point. Being a new blogger I appreciate your advice. I especially take note in the "Make it Fresh" portion. I couldn't agree more. Sometimes it is easy to get into a rut.

You hit the spot with this post. Blogging needs passion and being able to sustain it with the same excitement and zeal just like the first time is a challenge that needs to be conquered each time.

The one plan that I do have is I have a plan in the way I write my posts on my personal blog. Example… Every Friday-Sunday it will always be the same similar content posts, reported in a consistent fashion week to week. I do have a passion for it, and every week it seems to get easier and easier =D

    Till then,

    Jean

I took a year before ever writing the first post on my blog because I planned the hell outta it. I wish I started it earlier but in the bigger picture it has helped me move forward much more easily than if I just rushed it.
