What is a Blog?
Blogging can be a very successful way to make money online. If you have a website, as most online business owners do, you’ll want to use every available measure to draw as much traffic your way as possible, whether you are selling a product or service or simply selling yourself or your point of view. Blogging has become quite popular as a means to do this. Although blogging originally started as a way to meet people and make friends, almost like a chat room, today blogging is a major form of generating traffic to websites to make money online. If you’re unfamiliar with blogs, a blog is a website where items are posted every day or on a regular basis. Starting a blog, keeping up with it and adding regular articles to it is referred to as blogging. Each individual item or article that’s added is called a blog post or just post. A blogger is the person adding the posts. Blogs may consist of images, text, hypertext and links to other files, websites, audio or videos. Adding links is how most business owners generate traffic to their sites to get more potential customers.
Is Blogging For You?
Blogging sounds like a lot of fun and a great way to make friends. However, if you’re doing it for business purposes to help you make money online, you need to take some things into consideration before deciding if blogging is right for you because it’s not the thing for everyone. For instance, not everyone enjoys writing and unless you do, you won’t be very successful at blogging. Bloggers have to add posts to their blogs on a regular basis or they’ll lose their viewers. You also need to have the time to devote to making regular posts to the blog. Another thing to consider is that you’ll be the “star” of the blog or the center of attention. You need to be the kind of person that’s not bothered by this. You also need to be a “people person”. While this may be a virtual relationship as opposed to a face to face relationship, you still have to be an agreeable and friendly person to truly allow your blogging to help you make money online with your business.
Blogs Need Useful Content
Although you may feel that, when blogging, you can write whatever you choose because you don’t know the people that are reading it, nothing could be further from the truth. This is especially true if you’re using blogging to help promote your self or your business so you can make money online. Your content needs to be unique and interesting and be of such that your audience can’t get from any other blog sites. If you can’t do this, you’ll soon lose all your readers. Blogs can really help a company out. My friend has a carving business and I made a blog for him for fun and he got several orders. I use wordpress as I think they are the best but there are several out there.

Blogging takes much experience and time to find the unique content and cater on the readers’ tastes.I try to support my parents’ business and run a special blog for them.It needs also time and efforts.

It is worth reiterating though you have mentioned it. You need to be clear in you mind as to what your blog is supposed to achieve for you. You can be as slovenly as you wish, as long as you are not interested in who reads it and why and so on and so forth.

You are right about the content issue its not so easy to write on a regular basis if you don't have a n idea of where you are heading especially if its a business blog as it will take up a lot of your time, which needs to be accountable.

I agree that a business blog should not write or post an article once a day, but once in a while is fine with me.

That's what separates a beginner from someone doing it professional. You can blog for years and still be nothing more then a beginner.

Regarding the "Is blogging for you" section, specifically the points about enjoying writing and being the "star" I found that developing a blog "persona" really helped me focus my writing and addresses the "star" aspect as well. It's not me writing as the owner of the blog, it's my persona writing from his point of view as the author of the blog! This little trick made it much easier to actually write my posts and increased the enjoyability of writing significantly!
My blog isn't related to a businessor product I'm trying to sell so profit isn't a driving factor, although I could still see this working for such blogs as well.

Blogging only works if it is first and foremost your passion, and only secondly an income opportunity – it is crucial that you enjoy writing, and do it well, otherwise you won't get the readership or the income…

I agree with the above comments that a website owner must try to make his page different from the rest, and explore on from the many features available on various blogsites. I also use WordPress and it is indeed easy to use.

I checked out the site today, it’s actually a pretty nice image hosting site. I am use to using sites like imageshack or photobucket but this one seems pretty legitimate as well.

Ahhh oops that previous comment was for the other post I read…. I meant to say that Blogging is ever growing in popularity, I know so many people who are trying to start their blogs in the hopes of ringing in some money during the struggling economy. You are absolutely right about making sure its for you before jumping into it. Some people will try just about everything to make money, never succeeding. Make sure its for you before you start!

Blogging will only work for you if you love doing it. If you are just thinking of making money and not blogging, you will get impatient and thus quit blogging the moment that you started it. If you can't write, don't blog. There are other things that can make you money online. Do not be blinded by higher returns of money on blogging. Having that amount takes time and people have to work hard for it.
