Keep That Content Fresh
How do you keep it fresh?
If you’re blogging as a way to make money online, which is the reason most people blog, the most important part of your blogs is, obviously, your content. In the same way that a store is going to need customers to stay in business, your blog site needs a steady flow of traffic to remain active and help your online business. Keeping your content fresh is the most important thing to remember when blogging, regardless of the reason for blogging. In fact, having fresh content on your website or blog is the key to success with your online business. Here are a few tips on the best ways to keep your content fresh.
Use Keywords
Using search engine optimization (SEO) through the use of keywords is one of the best ways to generate traffic towards your website or blog. What’s even more important is using keywords that are relevant to your blog site so they’ll show up quickly on search engines. Search engines are what interested readers will use to find websites that are similar to their interests. If your site consists of several different pages, make sure you use different keywords for each page so the chances of them getting to your site will be better. The higher your site shows up on search engine results, the more traffic you’ll get to your site.
Although the idea of having fresh content on your blog all the time may seem difficult, if not impossible, there are ways you can do this if you have a plan from day one and do everything possible to stick to it. Determine the frequency of your posting or, more specifically, how often you will make posts to your blog. If you have time to make posts on a daily basis, this is great. Not everyone, due to work schedules, can do this every day but if you can, it’ll be very beneficial to your blog. Once you’ve determined what your frequency is going to be, let your readers know. This is important for two reasons. One, if they come to your blog and see nothing new, they’ll know when they can expect to see something new. If your content is good, they’ll start to look forward to this day or time. Second, by making a commitment such as this to your readers, you’re also making a goal for yourself and making yourself accountable. When you know you have to do something, it’s much easier to get it done.
Plan Ahead
Don’t be too hard on yourself if something comes up where you can’t make your post as planned. This does happen to everyone at some point, whether they’re unavailable, sick or just don’t have the motivation. Many blogging systems offer an option where you can schedule your posts in advance. This option will come in very handy if you know of something that is going to prevent you from making your regular post.
Blogging is NOT just about Blogging
Never stop researching and looking for new content you can post to your blog. Even though you may feel you know everything there is to know about your topic, there is always something new to learn. Your readers will love hearing about these new things and may have feedback and comments to add to them. Don’t just rely on the internet for your research, however, as you can learn a lot just in your day-to-day living. With the use of cell phones with cameras, you can take interesting shots throughout the day that you may want to share with your readers. Readers also enjoy looking at photos. Just make sure they’re saved in the right size and format so they won’t take forever to open.
Find small items and topics that you can add on a weekly or even a daily basis. While the main topic of your blog may be something larger, you can always break it down into small topics to keep them interested. For instance, if your site is about photography, which is a broad topic, once a week you can have individual feeds about smaller photography-related topics such as filters, lens, film, etc. These small topics or subjects will serve two purposes. They’ll allow your content to remain fresh while giving your readers even more interesting topics to read and enjoy.
Don’t be afraid to add some humor into your blogs. Although most of the readers are there to participate and possibly learn more about your topic, no one wants to feel they’re back in high school in a classroom. Put a friendly and light spin on some of your posts, which will also help you to develop a friendly relationship with your readers. Encourage them to contact you and let them know that you look forward to hearing from them. A contact form can be located somewhere on your blog and encourage readers to leave any comments or feedback they may have. Make sure you respond back to any of the comments you receive so they’ll know that there is a real live person behind the blog and that you care about them. The more contact there is between you and your readers, the better your chance of getting new content from them as well.
Your new content doesn’t have to be some long drawn-out article. It can be a short post of only 250-300 words but it lets them know that you are available and it will keep them interested. Even though your blog site is about a specific topic, don’t be afraid to add some “evergreen” topics occasionally. Evergreen topics are general interest topics that never change but yet will draw their interest. They don’t even have to be related to your blog subject but they can still be interesting. You may even consider finding some private label rights articles where you can get some great ideas. But, DO NOT COPY THEM.
Get rid of any old content that has just been sitting around there taking up space. You should do this regularly, like every other month. Keep an archive, however, so readers can always go back and find something that interested them that they may want to retrieve. An archive will also allow new readers to see that you’ve been doing this for quite awhile and that you blog is not new. This will do a lot towards proving your seriousness and credibility.
Pay attention to the seasons and holidays of the year. People will love your acknowledgment and it will go a long ways towards letting them know your content is fresh. Again, they don’t have to be long posts. It’s quality and not quantity that counts.

Great post! I think I'm doing OK as far as content on my blog, it's my website that's another story LOL I have been enjoying using the schedule part of WordPress. It's very helpful. And paying attention to the holiday's and seasons is a great tip. I need to do some brainstorming!

Interesting post and helpful input from Angie. The true key to success when running your own blog is maintaining a level of consistency. Readers constantly seeing that your blog is alive and thriving places a psychological tendency on them to visit more often – in turn- driving traffic.
"If your joints not poppin' people will just keep on walken" as a friend of mine who previously worked in a club used to say.
As long as you create solid content with a personality and do it often enough, you'll be successful in the blogosphere.

Nice Article about content, i know very well content is King, On the other hand, as far as the huge expense of professional SEO content writers is concerned, people can easily get away from this hassle by conducting well planned, market research.

Keeping your content fresh what makes articles interesting. And you are right, we should research our content thoroughly. This is the only way we can make quality content. And I do personally like to read articles that are shorter. Long posts sometimes ends up boring especially when you're trying to tell a personal story.
March 5th, 2009 at 12:50 pm
That's right. Fresh content is a big point in seo. If you don't write about things that people are interesting in, they won't link to you.
March 5th, 2009 at 6:30 pm
I think the most important aspect of this is having a passion for what you blog about! If you are really inspired by your topic it's so much easier to find topics to keep posting about. It also makes researching and learning new things about your subject feel less like work and more like fun, and that can really show through to your readers!
March 8th, 2009 at 6:20 am
I've just started out with some blogs in my passions. I was actually paying for this sort of info. My mind is boggling at the amount thats out here for free, so many blogs seem to be making a living of just information about blogging. It is not so hard to keep up writing when it's a topic you are always thinking about anyways, hope pure amount of content is enough to get ome readers through… What about free articles?

Beside Recommendations that "Fresh IS needed to build a better blog.what about blogging base a long tail research .?is it include what make"best to make best blog is BETTER
March 12th, 2009 at 10:58 am
Some of the Search engines want only original content. So if the Search Engine get's to your web Page on your Site and realize they have already seen this Page they won't Index it again, This can be a real hazard if you submit Articles for free Re-Distribution.
March 14th, 2009 at 1:36 pm
Very right. We need to write unique content for our blogs to get maximum exposure, as everyone wants something different.
March 15th, 2009 at 11:49 pm
I always plan ahead for posts. One of the best things to do in case something big comes up and gets in the way. This is very informative though.
March 16th, 2009 at 10:51 am
1st of all we need to research about the topic on which we have to write. Then collecting all points, we should write the post/article in our own words. This is why it is usually said that every site needs a fresh content, as it has more exposure.
March 19th, 2009 at 9:42 am
Yeah , A person should post a content which is unique and add value to its web and its readers .
March 20th, 2009 at 8:37 am
Excellent tip regarding planning ahead and scheduling the blog ahead. Thanks
March 20th, 2009 at 10:00 pm
The one thing I hate though is when that one site that has no content at all ends up doing well in the rankings. I don't know how they do their seo.
March 23rd, 2009 at 9:41 pm
When I lack ideas to write about, I take a picture (usually of my bird) or post some old pics. Since I blog about photography and my bird, this works :-)
When I'm inspired to write, I write… and schedule the posts to appear so it evens out the posting interval.

Although I do wonder how to keep the keywords going – how many times can I type 'dog walker brentwood' without looking obvious and putting people off?
I did manage to squeeze it into this post though. ;)

Having a number of categories on a blog (lifestyle, gadgets, fashion, etc) can also help to broaden your horizons in such a way that you will not be limited to a certain topic only. So when a great content idea pops up your mind, you can easily categorize it.

You can almost compare keeping the blog fresh to keeping your food fresh. Its always important to buy a new baking soda box to put in the refrigerator to keep the food fresh, just like its important to put fresh content up on the site to keep everything fresh. You have to plan when you are going to clean out the refrigerator, and you have to learning about the different methods to keep your food fresh!

Very informative post. Yes the right use of keywords is really essential when it comes to search engine optimisation. Internal linking is also crucial because it will give importance to all pages. Content is king so, you need to make sure it's error free. Otherwise readers would be driven away.

Hi! I’m new at blogging and I have some few questions:
1.) How much keyword is enough? Do we need to put as many keyword as we can so that search engines won’t miss our site?
2.) Will the blog be popular by filling it with contents regularly?
3.) What topics should we discuss? Can I have tips?
4.) How do you feel about a blog that is a tutorial for beginners and a personal diary relating to the experience of the blog’s tutorial combined? (ex. How to’s on Freelancing and a blogger’s personal blog on freelancing all in one blog)
I’m looking forward to your answers.
Thank You.
