Getting the Most Out of Your Blogs with MyBlogLog

mybloglog1Anyone that’s ever blogged as a way to promote their products or services and, hopefully, make money online knows how effective good blogs can be. However, for them to be truly effective, they need good exposure on the internet. MyBlogLog, a service of Yahoo! makes this not only possible but very easy.

MyBlogLog is a social network service used in the blogging community. A lot of its effectiveness comes from the addition of a web widget installed on the bloggers blog. MyBlogLog membership is free, which makes it even more popular for bloggers hoping to get more interested readers and exposure. When you sign up for a MyBlogLog account, you enter your blog and are starting your own blog community for your particular interest. Other readers that are interested in your blog can subscribe to your community, so they’ll always know when something new is posted. They can also share your posts with contacts in their own blogging community.

Bloggers that have installed web widgets on their site will be able to show other members of the MyBlogLog community who have recently viewed their site. The widgets also allow you to connect with other users by providing links to the other member’s pages in their community. The members that use the widgets are privy to a lot of helpful information such as how many people visited your site, who visited it, what links they may have clicked and their origin. You can also find new communities by typing what you’re looking for in a search box.

If you’re interested in finding out about any new members to MyBlogLog, a list of the new members is shown on the MyBlogLog Communities or Members page. This is a great way to find if there are any new members with similar interests as yours. By looking at what tags have been put on their profile and checking out their communities, you can find many “friends” to view your community and help with the promotion of your stories or sites.

If you already have a Yahoo! ID, you’re well on your way. Once your Yahoo! Profile is set up, add a photo and you’re ready to start blogging. Any time you go to a site that’s MyBlogLog enables, your photo will show up on a widget. All the other user has to do is click on your picture and they can see all you’ve written or posted. You can also add different communities to your blog and learn what others’ are reading and find out whose reading your stuff.

This website uses IntenseDebate comments, but they are not currently loaded because either your browser doesn't support JavaScript, or they didn't load fast enough.

This is indeed a good way to start. If however you are serious about your blog as a vehicle to make serious money, I should imagine that your own site will be a better idea!

I really think blogging sites are all the same. However, one thing that is unique with this network are the widgets that yahoo keeps on promoting even from their emails. The widgets make the blogging environment less boring. On top of that, they are great innovation to the blogging industry.

It's strangely enough, but I get some traffic from MBL, although I did nothing to promote them there. I haven't even visit MyBlogLog site yet :)

Perhaps, I should think about promoting the blogs through it.

I am member of my bloglog. It can be very useful to promote one's site as you can leave your presence to a website without leaving any comments which is a way to promote one's sites. However, even if you log out of it, it will keep on leaving your footprints behind.

Hmmmmm .. after reading this I am not sure if MyBlogLog is a worthwhile investment in time . Building communities is good, but you'd better have a lot of interesting content to separate yourself from the herd.

Awesome post. Listen up, folks…MBL is an awesome resource ! The free version is great, but the paid version is incredible.

I just checked it out and I think MyBlogLog may have some potential. I signed up and filled out the paperwork (relatively easy but a little confusing in places). I like the way it seems to tie in just about everything from blogs, livejournal, technorati, even netflix if you let it! I found some related blogs with similar interests and joined their MyBlogLog communities and was shocked to see that after only 15 minutes people were already joining my community!

I'll have to keep an eye on this for the next few weeks to make a more intelligent decision, but I'm already pleasantly surprised how active it is.

Hello! I am from Belarus. Therefore, I am sorry for my bad English.

I have been reading your project imbloggingthat.com via translate.google.com. Now I want to help you. … Yesterday, I learned that you have the plugin, which is a serious error. Plugin – Top Commentators Widget. Error in plugin allows any user to take a place in the list of active commentators. To do this, leave only 1 comment! To this end, the visitor must:

    1. leave a comment
    2. specify any name that is already in the LIST Top Commentators (eg, Daniel),
    3. link to your site

Now the list of Top Commentators, under the name Daniel will be a link on someone else's site.

    Detailed, I described here – http://www.vse-ok.com/2009/03/17/bag-v-plagine-to...
